Degree: Elementary Education

Chicago State University has been a good college experience. There was many positive things about this school. The school environment is very helpful and friendly. The teachers are knowledgeable. The classroom sizes are not usually like a seminar, its usually a more normal class size. Students get to talk to the professors more one on one. They communicate and respond well yo any questions both in person or online. There is a tight knit community there too. There are many organizations, like the... Read More

Degree: Pharmacy

If you want other pharmacists or pharmacy students respect you, if you wan to go for residency or working in a hospital setting DO NOT go to this school. The staff are very unprofessional, the program is the worst when you compare it with other pharmacy schools, and you are minority if you are not African-American meaning NO favors!

This is a great school and its a Historically Black College! I am not sure that I could ask for much more. In the years that I attended which was around 2006, I had some really great professors who opened my eyes to some really important issues. I would recommend this school to anyone attempting to pursue their undergraduate studies economically.

Degree: Psychology

I am a proud alum of the great Chicago State University where I received my BA degree as a student in the board of Governor's Program with a minor in Psychology. I will say that CSU has underwent several transitions over the years, however, the educators there are truly awesome teachers. CSU may get a bad wrap, particularly due to Administrative issues but if you take just one class there you will be certain that the actual instruction you receive is invaluable. Initially, I too was hesitant because... Read More

Degree: Criminal Justice

Chicago State University is a great school to attend, if you're interested in Criminal justice or nursing. Csu has been talked about for awhile and a negative way, but they fail to mention the positive things about Csu; such as how successful certain programs are, and how great the professor are.

Chicago State is has some of the best teachers in their education department. They are knowledgeable and current with their educational instruction. However, dealing with the administrative offices can be quite difficult. They often are slow to provide information and when they finally do the information is incorrect. I would recommend CSU but be prepared to face an up hill battle dealing with administration.

Degree: Pharmacy

I am beginning my PharmD grad program in the fall. I feel the stresses that the school/life balance will be tough in the moment, but in the long run, it will be something to look back and cherish because those were the steps I took in order to pursue my dream to become a pharmacist.

Chicago State University's MOT program is the cheapest accredited program in the state of Illinois, which is a huge plus for a poor graduate student. While the school itself isn't the greatest, the MOT program is full of faculty who are dedicated and there for the students.

This is a relatively new program and the direction that it is heading is most definitely a positive one. The facilities and use of technology itself is pretty low in comparison to other campuses. However, with the constant remodeling this can quickly change.

Pros of my Program: - I love the Program I am studying, Mental Health Counseling. It is not only about Theories, but the instructors leave you to do hands on-experience in Counseling. - My instructors are very flexible and understanding of my busy schedule. - The Program grades you on your Efficacy, Persistence, and the responsibility you take on learning 100% about the Program. Cons: - The university does not have a reputable recognition for administration, which concerns me when applying to future... Read More

I have studied previously at Arizona State University and changed my majors from EE to CS. As I have no basics in CS, I had to come to Chicago State so as to learn them in aprallel to my Master's degree. The academics etc. I have experienced at Arizona State University compared to Chicago State University is far greater than anything I ever imagined atleast to my standards.

Great faculty and staff. Extremely helpful and supportive. Quality education at a reasonable cost The area isn't the most aesthetically pleasing; and there aren't a lot of restaurants/university life near bye. Definitely a commuter school.
