The social work program is fabulous. Madonna has great instructors that are highly educated and can teach you the knowledge one needs for social work. I think Madonna needs a part two for Mental Assessment or an advanced class in Mental Assessment, Instead of an advanced class in aging, which is not necessary. THE CAMPUS IS NICE AND SAFE.

The thing I love about Madonna university is it's seamless and shameless infusion of Christian humanist philosophy and principals. The campus and class sizes are small enough so you will never feel overwhelmed by being just another cog in the wheel. All of the faculty and staff share the same heart for education and students. Read More For a private University, Madonna is relatively competitive and the course options are fantastic. because of the community outreach the University ahs been so long involved in, many disadvantaged and handicapped groups find their way on campus and students are taught whom they must truly serve outside of their education, a lesson I cherish deeply. Overall Madonna is concerned about your education, but more than any other higher institution I have attended, they are concerned about your character.

The Clinical Psychology graduate program is challenging and has been a great learning experience. There is a heavy workload that involves commitment, critical thinking, and problem solving. This is a very competitive program taking only 13 students a year. The pro is that there is more interaction between students and teachers offering a better learning experience. The Humane Studies M.S. program at Madonna University is an interdisciplinary program looking at the humane treatment of animals, humans, and the environment. It is a new program as 2013-2014 will be the second academic year it will be offered. I have taken such courses as environmental ethics, social justice, and "Do animals matter?". All were worthwhile courses and the first two were offered online and the third was a hybrid course (i.e. we met on campus every other week) that offered a service... Read More learning experience at the Detroit Zoo. The professors are easy to talk to and pretty down to earth people. They are willing to help in whatever way they can. Along with the masters, there is a built-in certificate in Non-Profit Entrepreneurship. This certificate covers the start-up, funding, leadership, and recruiting and deploying volunteers. I have chosen to complete the program over two years at 3/4 time (part time but more than half-time) and it is working well for me at this pace. Most of the courses are online, with a few hybrid and a couple of on-campus courses. My internship is coming up this semester and my academic advisior has been very helpful in trying to secure an internship that will build my resume for my future career. The true beauty of this program is that it can be used to work with animals, humans, or the environment.

PRO: very convenient for adult learners; administrative staff excellent. campus well organized, clean and safe. Professors are excellent; All faculty and staff are great at communicating with students. CON: These complaints are not limited to Madonna University. I have colleagues attending same program at other universities with same complaint: too many nonsense courses that are not applicable to the program. At first glance, most students see Madonna University as being strictly Catholic, but this couldn't be further from the truth. While the courses are based in Franciscan values, there is no attempt by faculty or students to force their faith on you. In fact, Madonna University has many students enrolled that are not Catholic. Each course builds off the last to make you a well rounded professional in your field. Also, the courses can be on campus, online, or a hybrid of the two. I had one class that was a hybrid that met every other week! This greatly helped with the expenses in traveling from my home to campus.
