I WISH I COULD RATE THIS POOR SCHOOL A ZERO....IF I COULD TAKE IT BACK, I WISH I HAD CHOSEN A DIFFERENT SCHOOL. I HAD ONCE READ A REVIEW THAT THIS SCHOOL WOULD TAKE ANYBODY. NOW I CAN SEE WHY. 90% OF THE PROFESSORS DO NOT TEACH AND EXPECT YOU TO GUIDE YOURSELF IN LEARNING THE MATERIALS. NOW I'M JUST SPEAKING ABOUT THE FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER PROGRAM..... THEY SHRUG IT OFF AS IF WE AS ADULT STUDENTS SHOULD ALREADY KNOW THE MATERIALS. FOR THE STUDENTS WHO SAID ITS WORTH THE MONEY IN 2017....THESE... Read More STUDENT MUST BE SPEAKING BEHALF FROM OTHER PROGRAMS. THE WORST PART OF ALL THIS CHANGES GUYS IS:.... THIS YEAR IS THE TRANSITION FOR STUDENTS TO TAKE EXAMS IN CLASS NOT AT HOME ONLINE LIKE PREVIOUS. THESE PROFESSORS DON'T TEACH WITH NO GUIDANCE AND EXPECT YOU TO LEARN THE MATERIAL BY YOURSELF AND DEPICT WHAT IS IMPORTANT, THEN PULL INCLASS EXAM LIKE UNDERGRADUATE LIKE IT WAS TAUGHT WITH LECTURES. DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY. I MEAN IF THEY LECTURED AND TEACH, OF COURSE IT'D MAKE SENSE TO HAVE INCLASS EXAM!!!! YOU WANT TO COME TO THIS SCHOOL GOOD LUCK!!! I'VE WAISTED MY MONEY AND LOOKING TO TRANSFER ELSE WHERE!!!! EVEN IF OTHER PROGRAMS ARE SELF TEACHING, AT LEAST THERE WOULD BE FAIRNESS TO IT. I NEED TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE WHERE IT'D BE WORTH MY MONEY.

Excellent opportunities for on campus, online or hybrid classes including day and evening hours. The professors and instructors were all involved and engaged. Career advice was outstanding with several programs available for specialized studies such as RN, graduate, and professional feeder programs. The administration was also very supportive, from admissions to registration and on to financial aid and career services. Marian has a small feel with big city opportunities .The campus is located 10 minutes from downtown Indianapolis, but still manages to create a small university feel. Marian gave me the tools to grow into a better person through their commitment to creating transformational leaders. As a student, you take classes in all disciplines so that you not only are prepared to enter the work force in your respective field, but to also be an individual who is well rounded. The average class size is around... Read More 18 students so you receive one on one attention from your professors; your professors know who you are and will do what ever they can to help you. The students create a welcoming community, allowing each and every student to feel at home. Athletics are a large part of Marian; we have a multiple teams each year that make it tournament play every year and this past year, we had various cycling national champions, as well as both the football team and women's basketball team winning national titles. Although Marian may be small, it has many opportunities and experiences that rival large universities. I am so glad and thankful that I had the privilege of attending Marian for my undergraduate degree!

Attending Marian was an awesome opportunity. The undergraduate program in social work was challenging and the majority of my classes were taught by adjunct professors who currently worked in the field. I was not just a number; personal and professional relationships were built with professors because smaller class sizes allowed us to do so. The quality of Marian's Masters of Arts in Teaching program is what you make of it. As long as you put in the work and complete assignments, the professors are generally understanding of other commitments. Nearly all of my classmates, myself included, were working full-time while participating in this program, so it was actually beneficial to us that the workload was not too overwhelming. Faculty was also very helpful in understanding the educational opportunities for teachers in Indianapolis. Still, at times the information and courses we were required to take felt contrived and it seemed as though there would be better ways to spend our time (i.e. I was required to take an ENL course though I never work with ENL students, and would have preferred to take another course about Special Education, as that is the population I worked with). Similarly, the courses I took felt somewhat unorganized and I never felt like I ended a class being able to give a comprehensive summary of what all I had learned over the semester, but rather an assortment of skills and ideas that were all somewhat disconnected from one another. Although the academic rigor is somewhat low, overall I had a very positive experience at Marian, especially as a student that only attended on the weekends at for night classes.
