I wish that the professors knew more about their content area and practiced a higher degree of professionalism. I am getting a degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling and I have had experience with counseling myself and am currently undergoing therapy. This is because I have always valued therapy as a process to explore my challenges and strengths, my feelings and behaviors and my goals and aspirations. Many of the professors gave wrong information and I could have taught the classes better.... Read More The classes should ne taught by experienced professors who have worked in the field enough to find what really works and see results.

The Public Affairs program at my University is very good since it gives the students a different feel for politics. The pros are that the University's student body is very diverse and it helps the program with different ideologies. The professors in the program are specialized in different fields and students are exposed to those fields such as international politics, state and local government, and law. Students are able to experience a very personal relationship with the professors unlike bigger... Read More Universities. The program also helps the students find jobs or internships in the political world. The cons would be that the program has little money or resources to offer the students. At times students may have to leave the program since it is to expensive for students to stay in school. There is very few students that are interested in politics and the Public Affairs needs to approach more students to enter the program. Overall the Public Affairs program is a good program and I love being part of Highlands University.

My experience with NMHU School of Social Work has been excellent! I would recommend this program to anybody because of the high quality of education it provides. NMHU has made possible that I continue with my Graduate education goals in the comfort of my community by providing numerous campus branches in different cities in the state of NM. Thankfully, in the Roswell NM campus we have low ratio of students to teachers and their availability for help is immense. One of the down falls of this however,... Read More is technology. Since, NM is such a Rural state, different sites relay on ITV instruction and that sometimes fails or makes it difficult for students in those areas to be in constant communication with the instructors or other peers.

The Educational Leadership program at New Mexico Highlands University is designed for the working adult who either is already working or intends on working immediately upon completion in the field of Education Administration. I cannot say enough about the full-time faculty in the department. They are experienced, knowledgeable, compassionate and completely open to sharing the tools needed to be a successful administrator. The only downside to this degree is that there are a couple of classes that have to be taken outside of the department where some of the teachers leave much to be desired. I would tell others to ask around, specifically about the statistics teachers, before registering for a class outside of the Educational Leadership department.

NMHU has been nothing but helpful during my application process. After being accepted, I was contacted immediately and put in touch with fellow students as well as faculty members. The school has helped me find financial aid, housing options, and has made it possible to contact appropriate staff members for any and all questions I might have or help I might need.
