SIUE is a very diverse school and highly accredited. They have a wide variety of courses and student programs that allow you to explore your education. However, I found their student advisors and the department who oversees student enrollment to be lacking. I transferred in from a local community college with an associate degree already completed. Yet, my student advisor at the time told me I needed to take basic entry classes I'd already completed during my associate degree. This was frustrating,... Read More and my complaints were ignored until I was transitioning to a new student counselor in my next year at school. No apology was given by the advisory team, and I was unable to receive a financial compensation for the classes I had to retake in error.

Negativity aside, SIUE has a beautiful campus with lots of local nature spots that are within walking distance. The culture and environment on campus are also very enjoyable.

I learned a lot through the great professors here and was able to make a lot of good friends. Going to school here did open some doors for cool performance opportunities in the area and in St. Louis, but overall, I felt that the degree I pursued did not prepare me very well for the professional environment. I struggled to find a job in the field right out of college and ultimately ended up back at my summer job, where I currently still am. I am hopeful that work opportunities will come along in the... Read More future, but for now, I have not been successful in finding steady work in my field.

SIUe has an excellent business school if that's what you like. Honestly, I think SIUe is very proud of their business programs. I never had any issues with any of the professors, and I found them helpful when I needed help. The business school has a separate three-story building located on campus. Classes are in many sizes. For basic courses like the intro to marketing or macro and microeconomics, you will find yourself in a lecture hall with many many students. Later your junior and senior year... Read More you can count on smaller class sizes. SIUe business school praises on group projects. My junior and senior year pretty much in all courses I had at least one group project. There is even a particular class that consists of four projects, and they are all group projects. So if you love group projects, you surely going to get a lot of them.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Elementary Education program at Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville. The campus is incredibly beautiful. On occasion, I would be walking to my car from class and come across a herd of deer grazing. During the fall, the trees and grounds are covered with shades of gold, red, and brown. Truly stunning. Read More were shifting and I felt like everyone was doing their best to inform and prepare us. The professors were as diverse as they come and experts in their respective fields. The program was also very informative on outside opportunities and experiences like volunteering in after school programs in St. Louis. Throughout the program there were workshops to educate us on supplementary information that may not have been provided in the core classes. And lastly, my student teaching experiences were incredible. They make sure to place you in different grade levels in different communities. For example, I was placed in an eighth grade class in a rural community, a third grade class in an urban community, and a fifth grade class in a suburban community. The Elementary Education program at SIUE is truly excellent.

I thoroughly enjoyed the RN-BSN program. This program was manageable while working full time and with 4 children. The instructors were easily accessible as well as understanding and committed to the success of the student. Assignments were clear and graded in a timely fashion. I truly believe that this program is well worth your time and money, and what I gained from the program was definitely applicable to my current career.
