How We Rank "Most Affordable" Schools
The 91成人 research team manually collects and verifies tuition data for every school on our lists, ensuring you see accurate, up-to-date costs whether you're pursuing an associate, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral program. To qualify, schools must offer fully online degrees, hold institutional accreditation, and have verifiable enrollment data through the National Center for Education Statistics. While some of our rankings include partner schools, every school is evaluated using the exact same criteria.
We prioritize schools that offer a consistent tuition rate across programs at the same degree level, so you're not caught off guard by unexpected price differences between majors, and for graduate programs we go a step further by individually calculating program costs since credit requirements and fees vary widely.

FAQs About Affordable Computer Science Degrees 91成人
Who Should Consider an 91成人 Computer Science Degree?
Individuals who want to learn how to write code, develop applications, and test software may be interested in earning an online computer science degree. Prospective students can choose between a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, which is a liberal arts approach, or a Bachelor of Science, which hones students' skills regarding the challenging technical components involved with the specialty. These programs focus on developing a solid foundation in computing principles, algorithms, and problem-solving, along with practical experience in designing and implementing software systems.
While it is possible to begin studying computer science at the associate degree level, many careers in computing, software engineering, and related technical fields require a four-year bachelor鈥檚 degree. A four-year degree in computer science is usually a Bachelor of Science degree. To graduate, students generally need to earn a total of 120 credit hours of major-related courses and electives. While many comp sci students complete all of the requirements to earn this degree in four years of full-time study, some students may need more time.
Students can earn computer science degrees on campus or online, and the admissions requirements for either learning path are typically the same. Along with an application form and possibly a fee, colleges may ask applicants to provide transcripts, official scores on standardized tests, an essay, letters of recommendation, and a list of extracurricular activities and work experience. Many schools also look for candidates with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
How Can 91成人 Computer Science Students Pay for Their Degree?
Distance learners enrolled in accredited online schools that host computer science programs have the same access to financial aid as on-campus students. Enrollees may qualify for low-interest federal or private loans, but they should also apply for gift aid that doesn't require repayment, including government- and school-sponsored grants and scholarships. Depending on their prior experience, some students may also be eligible for military tuition discounts. Prospective students can apply for financial assistance by submitting the (FAFSA).
Some private organizations fund scholarships in order to support computer science students. Applicants typically have to submit separate applications for these scholarships, which may include writing an essay or personal statement.
The following list includes some examples of potential scholarships aimed at students in this field:
- Generation Google Scholarship: All students studying computer science or a closely related field are eligible for this , especially those who identify with groups historically excluded from the technology industry (women, Black, Latinx, etc.).
- (ISC)虏 Undergraduate Cybersecurity Scholarship: Up to 20 scholarships in amounts ranging from are awarded each year to high school seniors and undergraduate college students enrolled in cybersecurity, information assurance, or a similar program.
Why Does Accreditation Matter When Choosing an Affordable 91成人 Computer Science Degree?
Accreditation is an important factor to consider when evaluating which schools to attend for an online bachelor's degree in computer programming. Enrollment in an accredited college or university is required to qualify for federal financial aid, and it may also be necessary to transfer credits to another school or enter a master's program. To obtain accreditation and meet rigorous standards of excellence, colleges and universities must undergo an extensive, multi-year analysis of their academic programs, faculty members, and other services.
In addition to earning recognition for the institution as a whole, schools can also seek accreditation for individual degree programs. The programmatic accrediting agency for all computer science and computer programming degree programs is the Computing Accreditation Commission, which is one of four commissions operated by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The and the each offer a database of recognized schools and CAC-accredited programs.

Because this degree's curriculum is broader and more theory-focused than that of a computer programming degree, graduates may be required to complete coursework in areas such as algorithms, mathematics, and systems. Prospective students should determine their career goals before choosing this degree.
- Earning a four-year degree is a bigger investment than gaining skills through a bootcamp. Students who simply want to develop skills in a particular area, such as a programming language, may be better off attending a short-term bootcamp. According to Switchup, finishing a coding than traditional degrees from top-tier universities at approximately 10% of the cost.
- 91成人 programs require students to create their own structure. Because of the flexibility of online programs, some students may find it difficult to manage their schedules effectively and allow enough time to complete their computer science coursework and projects each week.

While I had a few hiccups regarding TPD, I will say the classes are good. The instructor's are knowledgeable, and willing to teach and make sure you know the topic. The experience I have had so far with the student financial office has not been that great. Some of the people are good and helpful while some are void of emotion and act like they can't assist with the issue at hand. I realize sometimes there's nothing that can be done in certain issues, this where showing concern and patience would... Read More

I am currently enrolled at University of Maryland Global Campus and I'm currently enjoying it. I appreciate the fact that since everything is online, my schedule can be very flexible and this is especially helpful since I am living at home taking care of my autistic brother part-time. I enjoy the material overall and I highly recommend to anyone who is trying to get their degree to do it online.

Full Sail let me fulfill a journey 20 years in the making. Without the accelerated program and flexibility to keep working while attending classes online, I wouldn鈥檛 have been able to earn my degree. The instructors have all been there, in the field, so they understand the process and what鈥檚 truly important to get a job afterwards.

I would recommend Full Sail University to others who are capable of handling a fast paced learning environment. If you catch on to new things quickly and easily Full Sail University is the university for you. If you're someone that requires more hands on attention I would avoid their online program like the plague. A lot of it was self paced and self driven. If you're not prepared for that you won't make it through.

I am a busy guy so when the time to go to college came around, I was looking online to both save time and money without commuting, room and board, etc. SNHU is a legit school and all but I regret not looking into other online schools and comparing my options. Ever since I enrolled I have honestly been too embarrassed to even tell others that I go to college, primarily because SNHU has a poor reputation to many people. When I've told people that I go here they always say "Oh that school with all the... Read More

DeVry worked for me very well, it allowed me to work and take classes with an understanding staff that would want to communicate with me. I never felt like I was forced to pick school or work and it allowed me to actually get my degree without needing to go far into debt. The classes were easy and informative, with final projects that needed a lot of focus and work to earn your grade.

Honestly, before applying I looked for many reviews but could not find what I was looking for and decided to give it a try. The system of learning is just some writing with activities, which are nice, but the regular discussion posts are just annoying, not helpful and it gets repetitive every week. First you will find them fun but, you will hate it afterwards, no doubt it improves your writing skills. I passed almost everything with 30 min study time 3 times a week with grade A. So, think about it.... Read More

Starting off, the admissions staff is fantastic and quick. From time of inquiry, I was in class by the following week. It was by far the most organized admissions department I've ever seen. The professors on the other hand are lackluster. Most of them are part-timers who only feel obligated to do their work for a few hours a week. I literally have one who ONLY checks for ONE HOUR on Saturdays, and the rest of the week he's MIA. The learning is all done via Cengage textbook companion material, so... Read More

91成人 students can't be confident of degree completion because UCCS is abandoning nontraditional students to build up the traditional student body. 91成人 classes are full or cancelled at semester start. No idea if I'll still be a student semester to semester, since not clear if I'll get into any courses, so will have to transfer to another college and complete a new set of prerequisites. If uncertain of an ability to complete a full degree program in person, don't choose UCCS!

Knowing is half the battle, and If I had known how little weight this degree carried in the industry for even entry level positions I would have not chosen to spend upwards of 40k on the degree. There needs to be more emphasis on projects and internships/work programs if this is to be considered "to help get careers and to provide with skills employers want". The career tool does little to help because it states you are qualified for positions you will never get with just this degree behind you.... Read More

The University of Florida is a great school. Being an online student, I never felt isolated because many (not all) of the classes are live lectures that are given to campus resident students. They are recorded for flexibility. Also, advising and the IT dept are very responsive and helpful. I will say that my Computer Science curriculum could be challenging at times, as well as some classes I needed to take as a transfer student, such as Physics II. I would recommend taking Calc I, II, III, Physics... Read More

I have started attending this school recently and decided to read some reviews about it. After reading several reviews I understand the concern for lack of teaching. I鈥檓 taking a accelerated degree that results in 5.5 week semesters and roughly 30ish hours of HW/research a week. I do work full time and I鈥檓 managing to get A鈥檚 in my classes. Not sure why there are so many complaints about this school. The instruction is great, they use Zybooks and intellipath for most classes. So far, this has been a great school to learn programming as well as basic software engineering concepts. Instructors are professional, many of them with years of experience in the industry, being employers and retirees. With any college, you don鈥檛 learn everything inside the classroom. It鈥檚 up to you to go outside and learn the things you need to relating to your... Read More

Western Governors University offers a specialized experience for self-motivated individuals, particularly through its competency-based model. For a 2024 Computer Science graduate, the program's greatest strength is the ability to accelerate through familiar material, allowing students to finish their degree as quickly as they can demonstrate mastery of the subject matter. This structure makes it exceptionally cost-effective for those who can dedicate the time to complete multiple courses within a... Read More
The curriculum provides a robust foundation in essential areas like discrete mathematics, data structures, and algorithms, often supplemented by industry-recognized certifications. However, the experience is largely solitary and requires intense self-discipline, as there are no traditional lectures or set schedules. For a working professional or a career-changer who values efficiency and flexibility over a traditional campus environment, WGU provides a direct and respected path to a degree.

I really enjoyed my time at Franklin. I did not give them a 5 out of 5, because there is always room for improvement. Without their online courses, I would never have been able to return to school. I am a 36 year old father of 2 young children and work full-time. Without Franklin, my career would not be where it is today.

SNHU provided me with a great opportunity to continue my education, while not sacrificing my other responsibilities. The asynchronous style of learning was beneficial to me, because I could learn at my own pace. If that wasn't your style, many professors offered live lectures as well to attend via video call. SNHU and schools like it are essential to providing equitable opportunities to all types of learners.
