Southern New Hampshire University is the best online school I've ever attended. My student advisor checks in on a regular basis to ensure I am doing well and to answer any questions that I may have. The financial aid department has been exceptionally helpful and are very quick to get back to me even during busy times (term start and refund times). I attended Southern New Hampshire online for free through the Guild program at Walmart. I applied with a previous 60 credit hours from my local community college. I attended for a year taking around 4 classes a semester. The classes were very easy and my classmates posts seemed very AI generated. SNHU provided me with online learning. With that said, online is online. You will not get the one-on-one instructor coaching as you would in a classroom, HOWEVER, I have taken classroom courses at other colleges and sat in a room while we all read a page out of the book and took pop quizzes and a final. My instructors were all helpful and my advisor was great. My advisor signed me up for all my courses (one less thing for me to worry about) and discussed the choices and we tweaked the choices here and there.
I am a much older student and the first thing I do is email the instructor privately and explain my circumstances and be upfront with them. When I submit a paper, I would also write a note on the submission screen if I had difficulty with the assignment. I always received feedback and it became a very personal experience with the instructor and myself.
I am sorry to hear people say they have had bad experiences. Some courses are easy and others were extremely time consuming and researched detailed. College is the foundation to build on. Do not expect any college to graduate you and be fully trained. On hand and life experience trains you.

I was a transfer student to SNHU. I had completed my associate degree in business management from a community college with 71 credits. All of my existing credits were accepted at SNHU. I also completed and transferred another 26 credits through Sophia in one month for $79 during my time at SNHU. Yes, they have online tutors available, but you need to be a self starter, resourceful, and a person who is able to comprehend what they鈥檙e reading. At best, you will get a professor to respond to your email within 24 hours. I鈥檝e had some professors that never replied to me at all. But I was resourceful and got my answer somewhere else. If you can鈥檛 deal with that, then don鈥檛 go here. As for your academic advisors, they are good for signing you up for your next courses based on your degree plan. I would highly recommend that you write a very detailed list down of questions you might have for them when you are able to get them on the phone. The reason is that they do not have an Email address or phone number to reach them. They have this general email address called advisors @ SNHU, and this general phone number 1-800 Advisors. Supposedly, when you email or call that number, your phone number is supposed to be recognized and it鈥檚 supposed to magically route it to your specific advisor. 99% of the time that does not happen. The good thing is they have advisors working 24/7 that can do anything that your personal advisor can do. Being an online student I feel is tougher than in person. There is zero personal interaction and you can鈥檛 ask questions on the spot. I work 60 hours a week and I found it convenient that I can do my classes between midnight and 4 AM. That鈥檚 really the only advantage over in person classes. So be very sure that you are insanely motivated and can get work done without excuses if you鈥檙e going to go here. It is what you make it. If I can deal with the nuances, work 60 hours a week, pull off a 4.0 GPA, and complete my bachelors degree in 10 months, so can you. My studies totaled about 35 to 40 hours per week to maintain a 4.0 GPA. If you鈥檙e OK with B鈥檚 and C鈥檚, I鈥檓 sure you can get the work done in 15 to 20 hours a week. It comes down to how bad you want it and how hard you are willing to work for it.

Most professors have doctoral degrees and I've only seen one or two that just held a master's degree in their respective field. Academic advising has been AMAZING and even call me to check in every few weeks to make sure thing are going well and are ready to provide resources to help you in your journey there.

SNHU has put a lot of work into updating their courses this year and ensuring a quality education. Where they need improvement is in regards to some of their instructors. The programs are designed so that one week is not dependent on the next; however if you make mistakes on week one, you will also make mistakes on week two. Completely awful! I had a 4.0 GPA, doing great and then my husband was in an accident and my whole world went upside down. He had to have several surgeries and just when we thought he was on the mend, his kidneys started to fail and we were back in the hospital again trying to save his life.
